***SPOILER ALERT!! NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!!***

Ok, so I thought it would be fun to do a product review today.

I wouldn’t call myself thrifty (I’m not patient nor diligent enough to watch deals and shop the bargain brands). In fact I hate shopping (please don’t judge me). When I have a need, I prefer to jump in my car, go to the mall, try on a couple shirts, pick one, pay for it and drive home. Nope, don’t like spending hours just wandering the mall, trying on tons of clothes, accessories and window shopping. I keep it brief. However I would consider myself an INVESTOR. Not in the traditional sense of the word though. So what do I mean by that? Well, I invest in quality items that will last a long period of time. I prefer to refrain from wasting time and money by jumping back in my car to go purchase the same thing I just bought a month ago. I need my items to have staying power.

For example, I used cloth diapers on my daughter before she was potty trained. Besides the fact that I felt obligated as her mother to protect her in every way possible (including not exposing her unnecessarily to chemicals that I couldn’t pronounce or had even heard of before), I got great satisfaction knowing that I wasn’t buying diapers every week or every other week (MAN, I saved a ton of money). Although, you could argue that there were costs associated with doing laundry every 3 days. I didn’t mind though, I was home with her and laundry is one of those household chores I really enjoy doing (again, don’t judge me, but I get a strange satisfaction from doing and folding laundry).

So when I first spotted a DIVA CUP on the shelf in the store, it caught my eye for one reason alone, I didn’t have the slightest clue what it was. I was looking for sanitary napkins and there they were. I had been in the market for something less wasteful and damaging to the earth for some time, searching for more sustainable products that were earth friendly. I had actually decided on reusable cotton pads, you know, the ones that come in the fancy cotton material with all kinds of designs on them, I just had to pick a vendor. Anyway, I picked up the box and I realized it was for us ladies during our ‘time of the month.’ I was fascinated!! I sauntered over to the store rep and asked her if in fact it was what I thought it was, she whispered, “Yes.” Wow!! This was so cool and so strange at the same time. I asked her if she had used it before, she hadn’t but said she had friends that swore by it (all the while whispering). So of course I had to figure out how this contraption worked and after reading the box, I had the heebie jeebies. I have to do WHAT?!! So needless to say, I put it back on the shelf. The sales clerk laughed and agreed that you have to work your way up to it.

It took me a couple months to finally to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before! Sorry, took a Star Trek: The Next Generation detour (I loved that show!!) Anyway, bought it, tried it (took a bit to get used to the ‘application’ part) and I LOVED IT!!! Almost forgot that I was on my period (I did use a panty liner though in case I didn’t get it in correctly). And get this, I don’t have to buy another pad for at least a year or so.

GREAT product and there are probably some others like it out there but so far, I LOVE IT!!

So if you haven’t explored strange new products and new worlds alike, I encourage you to GO FOR IT!!. You’ll be amazed at the things that are out there and how much more interesting life becomes, simply because you dared to go beyond your comfort zone.

Life is an ADVENTURE!! Live it up!!

Happy living!!

Glad you got the courage to try out a DivaCup! I bought on on Amazon a few years ago after researching to find “all natural” tampons (after guessing that the bleach in the cotton was what might be causing me “irritation” while using tampons). Totally love it. I recently bought a 2nd cup, a Lunette. I like it because it’s shorter and has a more flexible stem so that I didn’t need to cut it all the way off. Also, comes in pretty colors and doesn’t have any raise writing so it’s easier to clean. My only regret with menstrual cups is that it took me so long to discover them!

Yeah, a friend also told me that she likes the lunette better. I’m like you, I can’t believe it took me so long to start using them. I’m just excited to use it again next month (that’s a first, who ever says they’re looking forward to their period, lol).
